CHS CCA Policy

  1. Primary One to Three pupils who are selected through the Talent Identification Programme are to join the respective CCA. A Talent Identification survey is also conducted to all the Primary One pupils.


  1. Cub Scouts CCA is offered to Primary Three pupils.


  1. All Primary Four pupils will be given the Option Forms except for Scouts members. The Option Forms will require the pupils to indicate 4 choices (at least one sport and one aesthetics CCA). Option forms will also include the talent identification component that will be filled in by the CCA HOD by using the screening results. Drawing of lots will be conducted if there is overwhelming response in certain CCA.


  1. Primary Four pupils who have chosen Sports CCA will most likely form the recreational teams. Pupils who are already in a CCA can indicate in the option form whether he wants to remain in the current CCA or to do a switch. Upon accepting the CCA of his choice, he must quit his current CCA.


  1. Primary Four GEP pupils who have just joined the school and all Primary Three pupils will be given letters to join Scouts CCA by Week 3, Term 1. Scouts written and practical tests will be administered to all the interested pupils.


  1. Primary One pupils may join Sports or Aesthetics CCA at the beginning of Term 3. Primary Six pupils are to step down from their CCA at the end of Semester 1 or at the end of their zonal/national competitions.


  1. Aesthetics CCA practice sessions are held on Mondays and Fridays. Sports CCA practice sessions are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.


  1. Sports recreational CCA members (Primary Four to Six) will only be required to train once a week, either on Wednesdays or Thursdays. If the member has to attend either remedial or supplementary lessons which fall on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the recreational members will not have to attend the CCA sessions.


  1. CCAs will be suspended 2 weeks before the mid-year and end-of-year examinations.


  1. School team and potential players are strongly encouraged to attend the holiday training sessions during June and December holiday sessions. There will be at least one of week of holiday training sessions during June Holidays and at least two weeks during the December Holidays.


  1. All CCAs are to conduct at least one Values In Action(VIA) and teambuilding session.


  1. All Sports CCAs are to organise at least two friendly matches either before or after the competitions.



  1. Pupils with behavioural problems will be suspended from CCA sessions for three weeks. Letters must be issued to parents to inform them of their sons’ suspension.


  1. Regular attendance is expected from all pupils. A letter of excuse or a medical certificate must be produced to account for the absence from CCA.


  1. Modular CCA (SPHERE) is only offered to Primary 4, 5 and 6 pupils


  1. Pupils cannot change or terminate their participation in their CCA. All requests to withdraw from the CCA must be made using the Withdrawal Form and this must be submitted to HOD/CCA (Covering) together with a parent’s letter and a medical certificate (if any) stating that they are unable to continue in the activities. The CCA Dept will evaluate each request on a case-by-case basis.
